I’ve spent the last few days showing one of my brothers around Canberra, so sorry for the lack of posts – still no home internet access, and (although I’ve been accepted by my department) still no uni access either!

The brother is a christian anarchist, which I guess means one god, no masters… and trying to apply theory, both bibilical and social, in his work as a youth educator and social worker. While I’m still radically prejudiced against christianity, I do respect his attempts to against the use heirarchy and oppression by and within his religion. We had dinner at Au Lac with a mutual friend, a social theorist, who further challenged and enlightened me. The point that struck us all the hardest was that theory is of no use unless applied (praxis), and that many of the theories we claim to hold are difficult to interpret, and often harder to apply.

We also went out and dived a few skip bins for free food, and got enough to last me most of the week – my experiences in Wellington had convinced me that it wasn’t generally worth my effort, but in this town of plenty it seems otherwise.

Also, while I’m indebted to it, and love reading it, I’m also kind sick of theory in general. I’ve got an essay on another file system that I’ll post as soon as I get the chance.

  1. That is gross. Sickening. And you wonder why no girl will ever touch you? It’s because you eat garbage, literally.

  2. And you cover yourself in toxic chemicals. It’s all how you see things… There are many ways to describe the world we live in.
